Single-use Plastics Analytics and Engagement Reports

Australian Capital Territory

Aestra was engaged by ACT No Waste within the ACT Transport Canberra and City Services Directorate (TCCS) to analyse and report on feedback on the ACT’s Phasing Out Single-use Plastics Discussion Paper.

Over a six-week period in 2019, the ACT Government formally consulted with industry, business and the community about ways to avoid and reduce the consumption of single-use plastics. This included considering whether certain categories of single-use plastics should be phased out or banned in the ACT.

The level of community response was unprecedented and included over 3000 public responses, including 450 formal submissions by peak industry, business and environmental groups, and associated reporting.

The analytics and engagement reports developed by Aestra underpinned informed government decision-making on the proposed reforms, including the development of the ACT Government’s updated Phasing Out Single-use Plastics Next Steps Policy document.
